“ There are a few things I would do differently but the first is to know that relationship is the most important ‘R’ in reading, ’riting, and ’rithmetic. I would concentrate on snuggling on the couch and reading together more and not be so concentrated on independent reading. I’d move away from textbooks and use more living books. I’d find a homeschool community sooner. I’d start narration and dictation sooner… I’d bite back criticism, and give grace freely but still hold my daughter to a high standard.”
If there’s a golden thread that weaves through every homeschool journey, it’s relationship. 💛
Today’s Podcast Gold Nugget is a love letter to every mom who’s ever felt torn between checking the boxes and cherishing the moments. It’s a reminder that
The best reading lessons happen under a blanket, not under pressure. The best conversations happen while cooking dinner, not grading papers. The best education happens when we slow down enough to listen — really listen — to our children.
Faith, grace, and gentleness are the true teachers in the homeschool life.
