I Love Homeschooling, But I Hate Teaching Science – HIRL Episode112

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.

Sharing is caring!

Free homeschool podcast about teaching science. Most of us have at least one subject we don’t love to teach, and that’s a tricky thing to reconcile when we’re in charge of all the subjects.

So what’s a homeschooler to do when there are core subjects that must be covered but mom or dad either aren’t motivated to get that subject done every week or they feel unqualified to teach it? On this episode of HomeschoolingIRL, we’ll discuss what it looks like to homeschool science when you don’t love the sciences.

We hope to free you up in the elementary years, equip you for middle school, and introduce you to all the options for high school science.

Kendra, Thanks for mentioning Science Shepherd in this episode. I had already started on our 2nd Biology curriculum with my first high schooler when I listened to the podcast. I was already overwhelmed and discouraged with the year ahead. I took the plunge and switched once more to the Science Shepherd. We are now into Chapter 9 and I am pleased with the process and results. This program really fits with the homeschool style of teaching/learning and is a solid curriculum. I am a science teacher by education but always hated teaching Biology. This newer curriculum has been a great fit for our homeschooling adventure. I have since found a Biology Intensive Lab (2 day course) that will fit in with this program and relieve the Lab portion for this homeschooling mom as well. Thanks for what you do!
