How to Weather a Crisis of Faith in Your Family: Today I am joined by guest Meredith Curtis, a fellow podcaster. How to Weather a Crisis of Faith in Your Family

Today I am joined by guest Meredith Curtis, a fellow podcaster on the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network and a teacher at True North Homeschool Academy. Today we are talking about Facing a Crisis in one’s family.

Types of Crisis of Faith a Christian Family might face:

  1. Child decides that they are not a Christian
  2. Sexual Identity and God’s plan for relationships is not honored
  3. Blaming of person – Victim-claiming
  4. Use of pornography

When a family member experiences a crisis of faith, it is natural for the other family members to:

  1. Feel insecure and anxious
  2. Blame-shift
  3. Personal responsibility disappears

How to Get through a Crisis of Faith in Your Family

  1. Repent of everything the Lord brings to mind and seek His forgiveness.
  2. Encourage each other as parents
  3. Recognize that God’s ways are not our ways
  4. Press into the Lord with prayer and fasting, find people to stand with you, in faith believing
  5. Stand on the promises of God
  6. Do not lose heart/ hope, despite the length of time
  7. Realize that others are watching and wondering if God is real and if Christianity works so keep firm in your convictions and faith

Augustine’s Mother is a great example of a parent who continued to pray in faith believing for their wayward child!

Scriptures of Encouragement:

“…by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:1-4, particularly 1:4

“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.” 2 Timothy 3:1-4

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts …” Eph 6:12
