Living in Faith Everyday – L.I.F.E.

I really value my privacy. I know silly, right? Especially from the person who hosts not one, but three podcasts on this network. My family life is important to me. It is where I spend the majority of my time. I don’t keep details about my kids, every nuance of their accomplishments on Facebook, or pictures of milestone moments on every blog post. Especially during those “life is tough” moments, when it is important to be living in faith everyday.

One reason is that my kids have asked me to value their privacy. This began when I was sharing a talk at a well-attended homeschool convention. At this show, one of my sons was sitting in the audience and I could see him visibly cringing when I talked about a science project he created that was ingenious. It was high praise, coming from a mother who judged many science fairs and wrote a book on the topic.

However, my son asked me later to never, ever talk about him again in one of my seminars — at least not with him in the audience. I asked if I had said anything that embarrassed him. (For goodness sake, I didn’t even point him out!) His answer was no…but he said it sounded like I was bragging about him. Ouch!

Finding Balance:

It is in the same light that I value my privacy, and while I do share things that happen in my home, in planning for homeschooling, in teaching different aspects of academics, I rarely give details about specific children, or myself…until now. While I will share a few details,- like the scare that I might have cancer, this has been a trying several months. I’m now getting back to my full-of-energy self. I’m not hyperactive, but my brain does shift into hyper drive when I have a new idea or something I want to implement, like this radio network! Well, being sick and then having the emotional drain took a toll on everything! How difficult it became to manage a home, my husband’s business, my business, as well as homeschool details.

I have been very sick since January of this year…and that lead me to a primary care physician, blood work, eye-exams, more blood work, retinal experts — a cancer specialist, and yes, more blood work. I decided to go a natural route and contacted a lady I feel helped me tremendously in the wellness process. I really had the best of both worlds. I had the doctors here drawing blood and monitoring “things” and while they were doing their tests, I was taking nutritional supplements, under the care of Sandi Queen.

Sometimes I felt that I was living with one foot in the traditional medical world and the other in the homeopathic and natural world. I was an anomaly (don’t you just love that word?) to the doctors. They couldn’t figure out why I had retinal bleeding. While having a previously-planned dinner with a friend who also happens to be an eye doctor, she shared sometimes it happens for no reason. The medical reasons it does happen (high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer) were all crossed off, one by one.

Wellness Comes with a Price:

In addition, I was advised, by the wellness center owner, Sandi to change my diet to a Paleo one. No sugar, no carbs, no bad fats … you know, make a list, write everything you love to eat, and cross it off. Well, not everything – but many things! I don’t crave sweets, but I sure like chocolate. I began the study of the Paleo Diet and found the books often contradicted one another. Nothing is easy. However, I found a happy medium, food I liked that I could eat without concern. I remembered to begin L.I.F.E, once again– living in faith everyday!

Why am I telling you this?

Because soon you will see me begin to blog about healthy eating, essential oils, and some other things that have made me healthy and full of energy again! As I took these supplements, changed my diet, and felt years younger, I could see the immediate results in the tests that came back from the doctor. My retinal bleeding abated, the blood test areas of concern came back negative  or something-to-not-worry-about-now, and best of all, I feel it was a combination of many things.

The main one being prayer!

It was through prayers about which path to take that the Lord gave me peace about following a natural route… in addition, while some of the supplements were costly, He provided the money needed. My faith and outlook on life is a big part of who I am!

My heart goes out to those who are ill, who are under extreme burdens, and who are still attempting to homeschool as they can under stress. Hopefully this blog will be a place to come and learn–as I learn, that wellness takes prayer, as well as feeding our bodies the foods that give our cells what they need, without skimping on taste.

I pray you’ll be a part of my journey and share your own wellness stories as well!

[Sidenote: Media Angels Publishing Page on Facebook hosted a chat on essential oils which is over however the link is still up and you can read about it. A friend of mine is an expert in the area of wellness (the same lady who helped me on the road to recovery) presented the session. Visit the page here for the archives – and the transcripts will be available to read after that time. I hope to blog about it soon. Just info – no pressure to join or buy anything!]
