In this show I talk about Story Stealers, the Wide-Eyed Wonder of following Rabboni Jesus and Soft Skills.

“For we let our young men and women go out unarmed, in a day when armour was never so necessary. By teaching them all to read, we have left them at the mercy of the printed word. By the invention of the film and the radio, we have made certain that no aversion to reading shall secure them from the incessant battery of words, words, words. They do not know what the words mean; they do not know how to ward them off or blunt their edge or fling them back; they are a prey to words in their emotions instead of being the masters of them in their intellects.”
― Dorothy L. Sayers, The Lost Tools of Learnin

Isaiah 6:8 was purposeful and real, “I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

What is a Story Stealer? Someone who claims a story that isn’t theirs. Story stealing is a fundamental compromise of integrity and a fundamental compromise of respect.

The whole point of soft skills is to establish a life style of determining and living by Truth.

There are two great sins in life.

  • Not doing what you are called to do; deserting your duty or being faithless because you don’t have the chutzpah to embrace the wonder and the suffering (Gen 26:24-25.)
  • Doing what is not yours to do, taking someone else’s place, right, name, duty or story and claiming it for yourself (Genesis 33-50)

Soft Skills training is, most importantly, about pointing our kids character to the one character who is holy, true and beautiful. Truth, in the person of Jesus Christ, who is all Beauty and all Goodness.
