Holding on to Faith While Homeschooling: The Homeschool Sanity Show Podcast

Many of us began homeschooling because of our faith. I know I did. Homeschooling wasn’t my idea or even my preference. But somewhere along the way we can get confused about the promise of homeschooling. Today my guest is Kendra Fletcher of the Homeschooling in Real Life podcast and we will discuss Holding onto Faith While Homeschooling. I loved this interview so much that I’ve been telling everyone about it. I think you’ll love it too.

Two Vans Etc

We’re just back from a 3600-mile trip to North Dakota and back. It wasn’t our longest trip but it was certainly one of our most eventful …

When we lost oil pressure in Wisconsin, we wondered if God was sending us a message.

When the engine seized in the middle of an Iowa intersection, we didn’t know the outcome.

But when we returned home with a “new” low mileage van, thanks to a providential God and the generosity of His people, we realized the message was – KEEP GOING!

MBFLP – Millennials, Church, and Family

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.

MBFLP - Millennials, Church, and FamilyStudies and research on the Millennial Generation, those in their twenties and thirties now, can pretty disturbing. Indications are this group of young adults is moving away from their parents’ values and institutions in ways we haven’t seen since the sixties — and in some areas, making a radical shift in the nation’s culture. What does this mean for Christian homeschooling parents? Can we gain insight into our parenting and educational process by looking at the results of the families just ahead of ours? You may be surprised at what we learned from the Gen2 Survey released at the Gen2 Conference in late January!

  • What do you do about embarrassing behaviors in public?

Destination: Inspiration Episode 12- Who was Maya Angelou? A Tribute to The Phenomenal Woman

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.

Hey, Friends!

If you can get through the echo (I’m working on it- LOL)  in my latest podcast, I know you’ll be blessed to hear the words of this phenomenal woman, Maya Angelou. I’m sure you’ll find her life and words inspirational for you and your homeschool! Scroll below for some inspiring video footage of Maya Angelou. Click the little grey arrow at the bottom to listen!

Outside of scripture, my grandma, my fourth grade teacher Mr. Freesman, and my friend/ fellow poet and co-author of my new Words With Wings Poetry Curriculum,  De, Maya Angelou is the biggest inspiration for my words. Ever.

What is the craziest is how she had SO many roles- like me. I guess it’s the life of a poet. Or a Renaissance Woman. Funny, a friend gave my that title of Renaissance Woman years ago, and it’s just stuck. Felt right. After I visited her website after her passing, diving deeper into Who Was Maya Angelou, I see those words. Right there. Global Renaissance Woman.

Here’s a screenshot and link straight to her page.

While my words are not known globally  like hers, I pray that someday they will impact as many as hers did. And I pray you find a bit of inspiration on today’s poetic tribute to the life of a truly Phenomenal Woman, Maya Angelou. Global Renaissance Woman.

As promised, I’ll share some of the links I mention in the podcast below. Here’s a link and a free download to the poem, #Reset  I read and wrote just a few weeks before her passing.

“Here on the pulse of this new day

You may have the grace to look up and out

And into your sister’s eyes,

Into your brother’s face, your country

And say simply

Very simply

With hope

Good morning.”

In this session Professor Wilson discusses the IRS attempt at regulating non-profit organizations such as the American Family Association in order to squelch fliers, tracks, and pamphlets with voting records and other kinds of handouts that help tax payers.

Terminology such as “writ of certiorari” and more

The articles and amendments discussed:

Article 2: Section 2

Amendment 10 was compared to Amendment 14 as it pertains to a District Judge shooting down Okalahoma’s voters ruling that marriage is between a man and a woman (Judge said it was a mater of the equal protection law).

Overcoming Insecurity with Deb Wolf

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.

insecurity, how to parent girls, how to get past insecurityDeb WolfYou won’t want to miss this episode of The Homeschool Sanity Show where my guest, Deb Wolf, and I get real about:

  • what makes us insecure as women, moms, and homeschoolers
  • why we will only admit to so much
  • how to help our daughters find the source of real security

Deb is the author of a beautiful book that will help you begin the conversation with your daughter about where our security comes from. The illustrator was just 12 when she created these lovely pictures that bring this allegorical fairy tail to life. The paperback version of Sarah’s Garden would make a fantastic gift, but the Kindle version is free December 3rd and 4th, 2013 in honor of our listeners.
