In years to come, you and your kids can look back and relive the memories you made on your trips. As they say, the days are long, but the years are short.

List in for ideas on both the why and hows of travel, or field trip, journals.

There are numerous options for field trip journals or travel journals. You can purchase pre-made journals, or you can let those creative juices flow and create your own. There are also many printables available online. Be sure to check our Pinterest boards for some ideas.

Setting Intentions for 2018 with Christy Montes

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.

Setting Intentions for 2018I can’t believe 2017 is coming to an end. It seems just yesterday I was ringing in 2017 with family and sweet friends, including ASH A LEE. I remember last year, Ashley and I decided that FORWARD would be our word for 2017 and I think both of us lived out that word in our lives. As we thought about 2018, Balance kept coming to mind. I need balance in all areas… work, home, health, relationships. I plan to work on balance in 2018. My best girls, Christy and Ashley also decided to make balance their word for 2018. What is your word?

On this episode, Christy and I talk about setting intentions for 2018, deciding what our focus will be and writing it down. We talked about vision boards, journaling, good books, and daring to grow. Do you have plans to work on your self as 2018 approaches? If you need help, let me suggest some good resources:

1.  Brazen by Leanna Tankersley

Brazen

2.  The Gifts of Imperfection, Braving the Wilderness, and Rising Strong by Brene’ Brown

3. Start Where You Are by Meera Lee Patel

Find some time to be quiet and reflect on 2017. After you do that, think about the next year. Plan some time for you, for you and your partner, for you and your family. I hope 2018 is your best year ever!

Happy New Year,

Kathy

La Toya Edwards {Mommy Jammies Night}

Hi! I’m LaToya, a certified Christian Life Coach and mentor. I am a recovering perfectionist and control freak who loves old movies, good books, and strawberry Häagen-Dazs® ice cream.  A few years ago I traded in a law degree to stay home and homeschool my boys and I never looked back!

When my first marriage fell apart and I found myself a single mom with two kids trying to be mom, student, and take care of the house I was beyond overwhelmed.

Fast-forward a few years and I was facing the biggest trial of my life.  I was healing from an abusive marriage, my children were dealing with PTSD, and I was struggling to keep my faith in God. I had stopped dreaming and hoping for the future.

One day I found the strength to get up and start moving forward. I started praying, fasting, and studying my Bible like never before. I was able to dream again and live a life full of passion and purpose.  I started enjoying my children and my work.In short, I started living again. And I have only grown stronger and found more peace every single day.

Through trials of divorce, depression, death, and abuse I have learned how to find joy and God’s purpose and plan in broken circumstances. Those hard times were when I grew the most spiritually. I faced my fears and found a strength I never knew that I had. It is my hope that through this blog I can encourage and equip you to do the same.

I don’t have all the answers but I can share my own struggles and a few tips and tricks that have helped me along the way. You will find encouragement and inspiration for growing closer to God and stronger in your faith!  VISIT LATOYA today and be inspired! >>> I want to be inspired!

From Last to First with Christy Montes

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.

From Last to First with Christy MontesFrom Last to First with The Real Kathy Lee

On this episode, I have the pleasure of chatting with my dear friend, Christy Montes. Christy is the homeschooling mother of four girls and works as a naturopath, serving others through her gift in the industry of natural medicine. Both Christy and I share our journey from legalism to grace and from putting ourselves last to caring for our own needs before others.

Christy and I get honest in this episode, sharing our hearts for other moms who might be facing similar situations. Christy encourages moms to look in the mirror and name 10 things they like about themselves. As a journaling fan, I encourage moms to take it a step further by writing down affirmations and read them daily

Both Christy and I have seen the benefit of looking in the mirror and seeing ourselves; our desires, our gifts, our longings and asking the Lord to continue to grow those areas during our motherhood season. We have found it much easier to give grace to other people who may have different convictions and preferences because we know how much grace we need on a daily basis. We continue to work at letting go of the pride that once ruled us as we parented from a “mom last” mentality.

We have learned a lot about the connection of emotional health and physical health. We have seen many men and women get healthier physically when they get healthier emotionally. We will discuss this further in our next episode together. Don’t miss it!

“It is estimated that 90 percent of all physical problems have psychological roots. That may sound like a gross exaggeration. In fact, it’s probably a conservative estimate. A growing body of evidence indicates that virtually every ill that can befall the body from acne to arthritis, headaches to heart disease, cold sores to caner- is influenced, for better or worse, by our emotions. “ (Quoted from The Complete Guide to Your emotions and Your Health p.563 by Emrika Padus and the editors of Prevention magazine).

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.
So it’s the time of year to reflect and make resolutions. Or is it? This episode, we look at the question whether Christians should consider “New Year’s Resolutions” (and why we think it’s a reasonable, Biblical idea), and we share some neat ideas which make this an annual don’t-miss event for our whole family!
