Show Notes

Enemy #1 in the secular world today is the Christian man. He is ridiculed, villainized, canceled. The world tries to change him into a feminized version that is impotent and ineffective.

The World’s Assault on Manhood

  • Be more sensitive, express your feelings
  • Don’t be so aggressive.
  • Don’t be competitive.
  • Be quiet like the girls.
  • Men are missing from families—boys grow up without a dad.
  • Schools/churches are filled with women teachers—again no role model.
  • Society is filled with harmful things to tempt men away from being honorable and holy—porn, anger, divorce, adultery, sexual immorality, drugs, drunkedness, smoking, criminal activity.

Destroy men and you have destroyed our culture.

What is Going On?

  • God loves families. He designed them.
  • Satan hates families. He is out to destroy them.
  • Men lead families so they are the target.
  • God loves local churches. He designed them.
  • Satan hates local churches. He is out to destroy them.
  • Men lead local churches so they are the target.

What Does Godly Manhood Look Like?

  • Leadership.
  • Protective.
  • Noble, honorable.
  • Courageous.
  • Provider
  • Integrity, Honesty.
  • Hard worker.

Exhorting, challenging, urging others to live sold out for God.

What Can Men Do?

  • Dig into the Word.
  • Pray.
  • Get together with other men to grow in the Lord.
  • Overcome strongholds in Christ.
  • Ignore the world.
  • Invest in your sons.
  • Mentor fatherless boys.
  • Be the man God’s called you to be.

What Can Women Do?

  • Stop trying to make boys act like girls and men act like women.
  • Affirm men as leaders. Follow their leadership.
  • Respect and appreciate men.
  • Pray for them to rise up and live like Jesus.
  • Don’t expect your husband to be your girlfriend.

What Can Parents Do?

  • Let boys hunt, fish, and play sports.
  • Give them opportunities to lead and protect.
  • Intentially raise them to be godly men according to God’s Word.
  • Require them to respect you.
  • Be alert for pornography—protect your household.

Best of HIRL: Boys To Men

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.

Free homeschooling podcast about raising boys to be men.Our listeners love when we podcast about the process of raising children into adulthood. But every time we talk about raising kids or the transitions into teen years or launching our adolescents out into the world, we are asked constantly for resources.

On this episode we introduce our listeners to one of our favorite new resources for young men. Our old friend, Barrett Johnson from I.N.F.O. for Families, is releasing a new book called The Young Man’s Guide to Awesomeness and we love what he has put together.

This is a special episode because both Fletch and Barrett were home alone for the recording. Join in as the two guys get on the microphones without their wives for a discussion about how to walk into awkward conversations with young men and encourage them how to guard their hearts, get the girl, and save the world!

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.

Free homeschool podcast about talking to your boys about sex and purity. Two of our favorite guests, Hal and Melanie Young, join us on this episode of Homeschooling in Real Life for a candid discussion about technology, temptation, addiction, and culture. We talk about the false sense of security that homeschooling can give us and how we can equip our kids to make choices that set them up for healthy sexual relationships.

As always, Hal and Melanie are engaging and intelligent, and we appreciate their honesty as we discuss a Biblical and God-honoring approach to love, honor, and virtue.

MBFLP – Is There Such A Thing BIBLICALLY As “Men’s Work” and “Women’s Work”?

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.

On this episode, Hal and Melanie dive into the controversial question of gender roles and work — is there such a thing, Biblically speaking, as exclusively “men’s work” or “women’s work”? Is there a distinction mandated in Scripture? Or have we adopted (or rebelled from) a social preference which might change with time, place, and circumstance? The answer may surprise you …
