FREE Character Counts Patience Planner

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.

My family looks forward to the Character Counts Planner and character study each month.  We like to use these studies during our morning time in our homeschool. Family time is so important right now, and there are some great activities in here to do with the whole family! This one is very timely for the season that we are living in and is all about how to practice patience.

Learning to practice patience is something that we are all having to do right now. Its not really optional at the moment. We are waiting in line at the grocery stores, waiting for our activities and classes to reopen. We find ourselves waiting for packages to come in the mail that have been delayed. This is a difficult time for our society that is used to all of this instant gratification. How much longer are we going to have to wait for the world to be normal again?

Now is the perfect time to practice patience.

I have noticed that my children are having a very hard time with this as well. They don’t understand why we can’t just run to the store to get a treat, or a favorite food that may not be available. And needing to ration toilet paper in a house with 4 girls? Well, that’s a character quality in itself!

Then there is the waiting for life to be back to our regularly scheduled routine. Just the other day, I was asking my 12 year old why her dance bag was such a mess and exploding all over her room. I told her she needed to clean it out and clean it up. She broke out in tears and said, “Why does it even matter? It’s not like I will be dancing for 86 years!”

86 years! It took everything in me, not to explode in laughter. Instead, I wrapped her up in my arms realizing how difficult this was for her to understand. She dances a few times a week, it is her release, and her passion. The weekly schedule is no longer. I am sure for her it does feel like it has been 86 years! Now is the perfect time to focus on the character trait of Patience, as we don’t really have a choice in the matter. We are all in this together, and we will be working on practicing patience even if we don’t desire to grow in this trait!

Israel and Brook Wayne tackle an area that has been the menace of parents for way too long.  Frustration, irritation, and anger often find a way into our homes, trying to turn the kindest of parents into a meanie. What happened? Where did this anger come from? What can be done to get rid of it? Come along and join the discussion.

The decision to homeschool is difficult. There is so much to learn, and there are often radical changes that take place in your family. Unfortunately, not everyone will be supportive.

Well-meaning friends and relatives may believe you are going to “ruin your child.” How can you make sure that you have laid a good foundation for your child’s future? How can you respectfully defend your choice to those who disagree with you?

Many studies indicate that Christian youth are leaving the Church, and anti-Christian education has been linked as a major factor in this equation. The Bible is full of instructions on how God desires His children to be educated. IF GOD has a definite opinion about the issue of education, wouldn’t you desire to find out what it is and how best to implement HIS WISDOM?
