Destination: Inspiration Episode 12- Who was Maya Angelou? A Tribute to The Phenomenal Woman

A Production of the Ultimate Homeschool Podcast Network.

Hey, Friends!

If you can get through the echo (I’m working on it- LOL)  in my latest podcast, I know you’ll be blessed to hear the words of this phenomenal woman, Maya Angelou. I’m sure you’ll find her life and words inspirational for you and your homeschool! Scroll below for some inspiring video footage of Maya Angelou. Click the little grey arrow at the bottom to listen!

Outside of scripture, my grandma, my fourth grade teacher Mr. Freesman, and my friend/ fellow poet and co-author of my new Words With Wings Poetry Curriculum,  De, Maya Angelou is the biggest inspiration for my words. Ever.

What is the craziest is how she had SO many roles- like me. I guess it’s the life of a poet. Or a Renaissance Woman. Funny, a friend gave my that title of Renaissance Woman years ago, and it’s just stuck. Felt right. After I visited her website after her passing, diving deeper into Who Was Maya Angelou, I see those words. Right there. Global Renaissance Woman.

Here’s a screenshot and link straight to her page.

While my words are not known globally  like hers, I pray that someday they will impact as many as hers did. And I pray you find a bit of inspiration on today’s poetic tribute to the life of a truly Phenomenal Woman, Maya Angelou. Global Renaissance Woman.

As promised, I’ll share some of the links I mention in the podcast below. Here’s a link and a free download to the poem, #Reset  I read and wrote just a few weeks before her passing.

“Here on the pulse of this new day

You may have the grace to look up and out

And into your sister’s eyes,

Into your brother’s face, your country

And say simply

Very simply

With hope

Good morning.”
