Here are some ideas of STEM toys and games that are likely to be played with for a long time after they are opened.
- Subscription boxes – Kiwi Co has ones for all ages: Bitsbox has coding subscription boxes for 6 – 12 year olds
- Raspberry Pi – typically used as somewhere between a computer and a robot controller (according to our Python TA)
- Trebuchet / catapult kits
- Tech board games – Thinkfun Circuit Maze and all these 20 Science Board Games /
- Goldieblox – an engineering toy for young girls
- K’nex, Lego Mindstorms, Lego Technics all teach engineering
- Klutz Lego Contraptions / Gadgets / Chain Reactions
- Snap Circuits for younger students and Elenco Electronic Playground for older
- Stocking Stuffers: Google Cardboard and the Merge cube for AR and VR fun
