Those with Work Ethic Practice
- Professionalism Professionalism is such a broad category, in fact, that it basically encompasses all the other elements of a strong work ethic.
- Respectfulness-You display grace under pressure.
- Dependability– You can be relied on to keep your promises..
- Dedication– You don’t stop until the job is done, and done right.
- Determination– With purpose and resilience, you push ahead, no matter how far you have to go.
- Accountability -You take personal responsibility for your actions and outcomes. You don’t make excuses.
- Humility
You acknowledge everyone’s contributions, and freely share credit for accomplishments and show gratitude. You have integrity, are willing to learn from others and you strive always to maintain a sense of humor about yourself.
Lack of Work Ethic:
- Tardiness – not getting to where they need to be in a timely manner
- Failure to notify of an absence – just not showing up at all with no explanation or concern on for those they have left hanging
- Insubordination –not being willing to submit to those in authority, being disrespectful
- Rude or abusive language
- Failure to follow department, company or family rules or culture- every unit has a culture and those with a poor work ethic or not concerned with influencing that culture in a positive way.
- Dishonesty- this can include obvious lying and less obvious suppression of facts and information.
- Theft –this can include property, fraud, and reputation- little to no concern for the sovereignty of others.
Remember-hard work is about productivity but also about efficiency. Limit Activities that get you nowhere. Everyone has 24 hours in a day, 168 hours in a week 8,760 hours in a year

1. Create opportunities for your kids to work young and often.
2. Don’t hire away all the tough jobs.
3. Treat their studies as a work ethic training ground.
4. Let them suffer the consequences of failing to work hard.
