Unity in Worship with Nathan Wilbur

Singing and worship aren’t the first things that come to mind when we hear the phrase, Life Skills. But decades ago, communal worship and song were key parts of the Culture. Pastor Nathan Wilbur of Wilbur Ministries shares with us the benefits of family worship in his home growing up.

Worshipping as a family forces us to think through our priorities; it invites God into our homes and brings to the family together over something wholesome.
A regular worship time as a family helps us think through the roles God has given us, and makes it easier to come to terms with them
If you are worried about time, simply set aside ten minutes on the weekend. If you would like to go longer but can’t, pray for more time.
Feel bashful about singing aloud? Don’t worry about it; if your or a family member’s voice sounds like a football stuck in a tuba, it doesn’t matter. The point is worshiping God and connecting as a family
- Reclaim the culture of song; fifty years ago, the quality of voices didn’t matter, they just made more memories
- Parents delight in the voice of their children, why wouldn’t God delight in ours?
This may have the side effect of churning up buried issues; good. That is God digging up the skeletons so all parties can have cleaner, more honest relationships.
This will be a discipline, it will be hard and awkward at first, but stick with it; its long term benefits are worth it.
Maintain an attitude of gratitude for what God has given us.
