Typical Course of Study is an important structure that will allow us to create the best program of study for our home school students. One of the big concerns about homeschooling high school is determining what to study.

Let’s start by looking at a typical high school course of study as a four-year program beginning with the Core Four:

A Typical Course of Study for High School will also include:

  1. Foreign LanguageFrench, German, Spanish, Hebrew, Chinese, Latin
  2. Physical Education – such as Dance
  3. Music – a general overview of music, including Music Theory, Voice, or Songwriting
  4. Art/Humanities – a general understanding of Form and Color, Photography,
  5. Bible/Apologetics Studies – should include a general overview of the Old Testament and New Testament, Church History, and Apologetics.
  6. Basic Computer Information Systems – Powerpoint, Video Editing, Internet Safety, and Accountability.
  7. Health
  8. Vocational & Career Interests including Entrepreneurship – sucha Vocational and Career Options as Life Skills and Personal Finance.
  9. Typical Course of Study electives can vary and be wildly diverse.
  10. Robust Reading List
  11. Community Service– 15 hours a year or more a year.
  12. internet safety
  13. Consider how to Robot Proof your Kids and The Future of Work!
